As well as receiving a first place for her scones and three highly commended for her cakes, she received a first for her potted fern, first and second in decorative roses, as well as being named ‘champion’ of that category, first and second in full blown roses, as well as ‘champion’ plus ‘champion’ in the African Violet category.
Though thrilled, she said that without her exhibitor mate and brother Greg by her side for the first time, after he passed away last year, the Show season had been an emotional rollercoaster.
“These awards couldn’t have been achieved without my friends and neighbours helping to put them together and carrying my exhibits for display,” she said.
“The wins are for Greg and I thank all of our supporters with all my heart.”
Champion gardener, baker triumphs again
MERRYLANDS’ legendary baker and gardener Robyn East (pictured) has done it again and excelled in the Cooking and Horticulture categories at this year’s Sydney Royal Easter Show.
