Centre’s $30m revitalisation of fresh food, retail hub underway

THE $30 million upgrade of Bankstown Central’s retail and fresh food precincts are taking shape and expected to open over the next few months.

Several new retail brands will open their doors progressively from mid-September as part of the revitalisation of the centre’s retail precinct, while The Grand Market is undergoing a major redevelopment to deliver a new vibrant and modern fresh food precinct.
Bankstown Central Centre Manager Eddie Paynter says the introduction of leading brands and services are a significant enhancement to the retail offer at Bankstown and “by meeting the needs of our customers, we are providing even more reasons to shop at Bankstown Central”.
“Once complete, the new retail precinct will become the go-to retail destination in Bankstown, delivering locals unparalleled choice and convenience,” he said.
“The refurbishment and redesign of the centre’s retail precinct provides immediate benefit to the community of Bankstown and is another step forward to achieving Vicinity’s vision to transform the heart of Bankstown’s town centre into a vibrant retail and mixed-use neighbourhood where the community can work, stay, dine and shop.”
The Grand Market will boast a contemporary feel and a reconfiguration of retail stores and kiosks to create an open and spacious environment to welcome the local community. It will also offer a new Coles supermarket as well as a broad selection of artisan specialty food retailers offering a variety of ingredients from around the world, expected to open in November this year.
