Centre endorses Uluru Statement

RIVERWOOD Community Centre celebrated NAIDOC Week with the community coming together to sign and endorse the Uluru Statement to create a better future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The Statement asks Australians to “walk together to build a better future by establishing a First Nations Voice to Parliament enshrined in the Constitution, and the establishment of a Makarrata Commission for the purpose of treaty-making and truth-telling”.
Riverwood Community Centre chairperson Cr Karl Saleh said it was pleasing to see so much support from the local community, to collectively sign the Uluru Statement on a display banner and endorse the message of unity and respect.
