The celebrity chefs will be doing cooking demonstrations and meeting fans throughout the food festival this Saturday, July 29, 10am-4pm, along Olympic Parade and at Griffith Park.
The festival will include dozens of food stalls, live entertainment, a cake decorating competition, kids’ activities, roving entertainers and 16 different Food Tours.
For Arrnott and Fuzz, it’s a dream come true to be on stage at the festival this year.
“I have attended Bankstown Bites many times before and I love the variety of food on offer and the vibe in the air with all the visitors,” Arrnott said.
“We are cooking my Fijian curry chicken recipe on the day, and it’s one that is a hit with everyone that’s tasted it.
“So, I’m so excited we get to share it with everyone, and people will get to taste a little bit of Fiji and it’ll start a love of Fijian cuisine.”
Arrnott loves that there is a vibrant community of Fijian and Pacific Island people in the Canterbury Bankstown area… “when I first moved to Australia I lived in Punchbowl and have some fantastic memories of performing and working with the council at various events”.
On the other hand, this will be the first time Diana Chan will experience Bankstown Bites.
“I’m humbled and honoured to be a part of Bankstown Bites… I can’t wait to share my recipes on stage with everyone and sample some of the food,” she said.
Otak otak, which is a Malaysian fish parcel that’s delicately spiced but packed full of flavour, will also be on the Diana’s menu … “It’s something I grew up eating”.
Bankstown Arts Centre will also launch its new exhibition, Plate, at the Bankstown Bites food festival.
Plate explores personal experiences of food, its cultural context and rituals through six artists’ imaginations presented as performance, ceramics and multimedia works.
