For the first time, the Gardens in Merrylands will be transformed into an Easter wonderland on Saturday, April 1, 10am-3pm, with the Easter Bunny making a special visit, an easter egg hunt, egg decorating workshops and a petting zoo.
There will also be games of futsal, an outdoor cinema screening of the Peter Rabbit movies, show bags, food vendors and arts and craft stalls.
Cumberland Mayor Lisa Lake said Easter was a special time for families to come together to celebrate.
“Easter is a special time of year for many people in our community with over 30 percent of our population in Cumberland set to mark Easter traditions and celebrations,” she said.
“It’s a time for family, joy and renewal, with millions of people all over the world celebrating this historic occasion with their friends and families.”
Easter marks the end of the Lenten season, devoted prayer, fasting and penitence and is celebrated all over the world, honouring the Resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after his death.
