Celebrate refugees’ gift

Make huge contribution to range of food, business

Mayor Greg Cummings says the Cumberland community “demonstrates that our diversity is our strength”, with people of all backgrounds and experiences, living and working together with shared values around family, friendship and mutual respect.
“Cumberland is a welcoming environment for refugees … Refugee Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the contribution refugees make to our community,” he said.
As part of Refugee Week, the council has also opened bookings for its multi-award winning, interactive Refugee Camp in My Neighbourhood project, with tours to be held from Monday, July 29, to Friday, August 9.
Join a guided tour and hear first-hand stories from local residents and former refugees and those currently seeking asylum about their journey to Australia.
