Celebrate Local Government win

CUMBERLAND City Council took home two awards at the Local Government (LG) Excellence Awards.

Its deputy general manager and Director of Corporate Performance, Melissa Attia, won the Dux in Finance Award, and the Governance and Risk team received a high commendation for its Water Safety Program.
“Congratulations to our focussed and innovative Cumberland Council team on winning these prestigious State Awards,” Mayor Lisa Lake said.
“It’s always wonderful to see our dedicated staff recognised for their exceptional work and commitment to our community. Well done.
“I am so glad to see meaningful work focussed on addressing real community need getting the recognition and applause it deserves.”
Ms Attia has proven to be a standout among Local Government finance professionals, showing her dedication to professional development and excellence in public service, while Council’s lifesaving Water Safety Program was developed to increase community water safety awareness during a significant decline in water skills post the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I would like to congratulate the General Manager, Deputy General Manager, the Executive Team and all of Council’s employees, who play a vital role in creating a stronger Council and making our community better,” the mayor told council.
“Congratulations to all on their achievements.”
