Celebrate 62 years of ‘growing’ better

☐ Burwood Grow Group organiser, Michelle Sparks, joined Lidcombe Grow Group organiser, Justin Carr, to cut the cake at the 62nd anniversary celebrations.

CELEBRATIONS for the 62nd anniversary of Grow NSW were hosted by the mental health support organisation’s newest group in Lidcombe which launched earlier this year.

Coordinator for Lidcombe Grow, Justin Carr, said Grow members joined them from as far away as the Central Coast and Nowra for the event.
Mr Carr said as well as recognising their 62-year heritage as Australia’s first peer lead community health organisation, Grow NSW also acknowledged the contributions of volunteer group leaders over the past year.
He said Grow was a mental health support organisation, with meetings run by peers – people with personal experience of improving their mental health. Supporting members with issues such as depression, anxiety or loneliness, Lidcombe Grow meets weekly at the Lidcombe Community Hall, under the Library on Bridge Street, each Thursday, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
