Care for Kindies celebrating 30th

FACE painting, a magic show and a spread of delicious cupcakes have helped mark the 30th anniversary of early childhood centre, Care for Kindies, in Belfield.

Established in 1993 by Belfield locals Carmen and John Cook, when it first opened there were no directors so Carmen ran the Margaret Street centre herself with the support of a team of educators.
They expanded to seven centres across Sydney and still operate three including Margaret Street, a second one in Seymour Parade, Belfield, and a third in Leppington.
Taking pride in creating the close knit community across the two Belfield centres, Carmen and John are still involved but the three centres are now primarily overseen by their two children John (Jnr) and Simone, along with John’s wife Tess, with the support of a strong team of directors.
The centre’s continuing strong ties within the Belfield community could be seen with the attendance of Care for Kindies alumni who are now parents of children at the centre, with former staff also joining in the anniversary celebrations.
“It was an opportunity to celebrate all the people who have been part of the 30-year journey of this Belfield family business,” a spokesperson said.
