Starline Autos owner Eddie Eid, who has been in the area for over 35 years, said the 47-year-old uninsured driver apparently suffered a medical episode on the Hume Highway before smashing through the fence and into the car yard’s other vehicles.
“Police told me he had low blood sugar levels and was taken to Bankstown Hospital for assessment but he has now been released and I’m hoping to see him soon so we can try to work out what to do about the damage to my stock which includes three or four cars and my fence,” he said.
“The fence alone will cost $10,000 to repair.”
With the car yard also without insurance due to skyrocketing cost of premiums, Eddie said he could not afford the repair bill and could be facing closure.
“Now, I’m just cleaning up and praying for a miracle,” he said.
