Canterbury Hospital staffer first local case with deadly virus

A HEALTHCARE worker at Canterbury Hospital is one of the State’s 55 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The woman who visited Iran recently, worked at the hospital while infectious between February 25 and March 3, before being diagnosed with the disease on Wednesday, March 4.
Three patients identified as close contacts, have been contacted but have no symptoms.
However other hospital staff members identified as ‘close and casual’ contacts, are all in home quarantine, with a further three symptomatic contacts and another staff member still awaiting the results of tests.
