Normally rehearsing at Bankstown Arts Centre, the singers have been Zooming in to choir facilitator Linda Marr for their group practice as well as enjoying her teaching videos.
“Zoom has worked very well and we have developed fun ways to practise, adding other music where it has felt like singing with a full choir,” Linda said.
“The singers have been learning harmonies and picking up a lot from the videos.
“We have many different ages and backgrounds taking part; everyone says they are learning so much about other cultures as we such a wide variety of songs.
“But we certainly have had a different year. One woman joined us early in the year on Zoom and we did not get to meet her until our Christmas picnic which we managed to slide in just before the Northern Beaches shutdown occurred.”
Linda said they would love to have more singers join.
“The more voices, the merrier,” she said.
“We are starting back soon and then just playing it be ear; we are looking forward to meeting up again but only when it is safe to do so.”

‘Can’t stop music here’
MOST choirs have pressed pause but you just can’t stop the music in Canterbury Bankstown, with the World Music Choir still on song and refining their skills during Zoom sessions last year.
