Cancel licence after spied doing 206kmh

A MAN’S licence was cancelled on the spot after allegedly being detected travelling at 206 kmh on the M4 Motorway at Granville.

Cumberland Highway Patrol were patrolling the M4, which has a sign posted speed limit of 90 kmh, on Saturday, April 13, when they saw the Audi S3 travelling in the westbound lanes at high speed about 11.45pm.
Police said they positioned themselves directly behind the Audi and checked its speed up to 206 kmh, 116 kmh over the speed limit.
The 23-year-old was also charged with drive at a speed dangerous to the public and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 kmh, but police were unable to confiscate the car or its registration plates due to the driver not being the registered owner.
Commander of Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden said the shocking behaviour of a minority of road users continued to put the majority of people at risk.
