Buying more homes for public land

NEGOTIATIONS are underway to buy two Auburn houses to expand public open space at the Ray Marshall Reserve and the Webbs Avenue Playing Fields respectively.

General manager Hamish McNulty, in consultation with Mayor Greg Cummings, was given authority to purchase the homes at 44 Killeen Street and 72 Edgar Street using funds from the Auburn Development Contribution Plan 2007.
After a public consultation period, providing no adverse submissions are received, both properties will then be reclassified as ‘community land’ and demolished, along with homes already purchased at 40 and 42 Killeen Street.
