Legacy Week is from Sunday, September 1, to Saturday, September 7, and buying a badge or a bear will go a long to helping support the families of veterans including those from the world wars, Vietnam and the 20-year campaign in the Middle East from 2002-2022.
The Legacy Week appeal has been running since the 1940s and is a time for all Australians to show their support for the widows and children whose loved ones have served our country.
The Legacy badge is a special emblem of support for veterans’ families, symbolising our nation’s greatest values of mateship, compassion and fairness.
Legacy badges may be little but the funds they raise make a big impact in the lives of our veterans’ families.
Merrylands RSL Club’s Jane Smith said club staff and guests looked forward to supporting Legacy Week every year.
“We have started early this year and luckily because the Legacy bears are proving so popular that we’ve had to order more,” she said.
“Legacy Week is a time to give back to the families of those who have given so much.”
Legacy badges at the club range from $5 to $50 while the Legacy bears cost $20 or $25.
