Bulldogs silence Lions’ roar

THE Bankstown Sports Club Bulldogs scored 264 against Fairfield Lions at Memorial Oval last Saturday.

The Lions were overjoyed when they claimed the prized wicket of NSW opener Daniel Solway for 19.
The belligerent Bulldog had played a major role in the Blues’ outright victory over South Australia at Bankstown during the week.
The Lions’ roar was silenced by Mark Stoneman and run machine Nick Carruthers.
The former was at his elegant best with a typically stylish 58, while the latter plundered a majestic 51 in yet another classic knock.
The two left handers kept the Dion Bourne Scoreboard ticking over relentlessly.
Englishman Stoneman is heading home but Bankstown is assured he will be back.
Lively allrounder Mitch Brown hammered home the advantage with a confident 46 which kept the Bulldogs barking.
Daniel Nicotra has made the most of his chances in the top grade and was again among the runs with a polished 38. His knock included a towering six which delighted the enthusiastic crowd.
Matt Bursa was 12 not out when the Bankstown boys were dismissed.
The Lions take to the crease this Saturday.
