The Jenny Souris Foundation was established in February 2021 in honour of the late Jenny Souris – the ‘J’ in M&J Chickens.
Jenny was a passionate Bulldogs supporter, supporting the Club since its’ Berries days, and a true humanitarian who sadly passed away in 2020 after enduring a long battle with metastatic breast cancer and chronic myeloid leukemia.
She battled her illness for over 10 years, which didn’t come without financial implications. For a compassionate lady, her concern was always for those who did not have access to the same level of care as afforded to her.
Upon her passing, family and friends wanted to pay tribute to the incredible woman she was and established the legacy of the Jenny Souris Foundation as a testament to the love, care, and compassion she personified.
The Foundation is also supported by Bulldogs’ long-serving partners, M&J Chickens, who kindly donated their jersey logo position to the JSF.
Having grown to become one of the Bulldog’s leading community partners, the Club has committed the Round to support the work that the Foundation does to help individuals and families in need of critical medical treatment.
Bulldogs CEO Aaron Warburton said: “We are pleased to be playing for such a special cause this weekend. Seeing our community club supporting those who need it most is something we can be proud of.”
“We have some unique activities planned for Round 11, the Jenny Souris Foundation Round. By shedding light on the great work that the Foundation does, as well as by telling Jenny’s story, we hope that we can help raise some much-needed funds for those who simply don’t have any other options.”
Jenny Souris’ daughter, Maria said: “Our vision is just to help as many people as possible.”
“The Foundation’s involvement with the Bulldogs gives us the capacity to be seen and heard and get our message out to the public,” she said.
“We are just a humble family that are supporters of the Bulldogs and they have given us the opportunity to get the message out and spread the word to the masses that there is a foundation out there that can assist people in need.
The Bulldogs will be taking on the New Zealand Warriors at Accor Stadium from 6pm.
