Build Sydney Olympic Park school in one stage bid

THE Sydney Olympic Park High School should be built as one and not in stages, according to State MP For Auburn, Lynda Voltz.

With funding only confirmed for Stage One, Ms Voltz met with P&C representatives from the catchment schools to discuss their concerns about the development application and prepare a submission to Planning NSW.
The primary concern they raised, one shared by Ms Voltz, was the plan to build the school in two stages would mean capacity constraints from day one alongside interruptions to student learning during Stage Two.
Ms Voltz said the Government must listen to the local school community and build the school in one go.
“I’ve met with the school P&C representatives and we all agree for the sake of the students and the school community this must be built in a single construction phase, not in two stages,” she said.
“The interruption to student learning that a two-stage build would bring, along with the obvious capacity issues it would present, are unacceptable outcomes of a two-stage process.”
“Our students deserve a properly constructed and resourced public high school from day one.”
