Bridge gap to connect community

CUMBERLAND and Canterbury Bankstown councils joined forces to bridge the gap and link their communities in Chester Hill, with the officially opening of the Wolumba Street and Hector Street bridges.

Pedestrians, cyclists and drivers are now enjoying the new two-way traffic lanes and shared paths.
Cumberland Mayor Lisa Lake said it’s great to finally see the upgrades complete, allowing drivers and pedestrians to commute safely through Chester Hill, significantly reducing congestion and travel time.
Mayor Lake (right), pictured with Canterbury Bankstown Councillor Rachelle Harika and Mayor Bilal El-Hayek, unveiled the plaques which would soon be cemented into the bridges.
