Brew up passion for unique tea

DELICIOUS tea-themed cocktails, workshops and matched tea and cake degustations are all brewing at Sydney’s first tea bar – T Totaler – which opened at 55a King Street, Newtown, in 2013.

A husband and wife team, Amber and Paul Sunderland, have travelled to over 30 different countries in pursuit of the perfect cuppa but have always had a passion in Australian grown tea and native botanicals.
Amber said: “Sit down and try over 30 unique loose leaf tea blends or try one of our tea lattes, vegan tea hot chocolates, tea sodas, pink chai or iced teas.
“All our products have been specially blended to provide a balance between taste, smell and nutrition. Each combination is designed to your needs. We have tea if you require a pick me up, to relax, detox or for an immune boost. Our tea bar specialises in unique tea brewing methods from sparkling tea, tea-tails and cold drip tea.”
With mouthwatering homemade cakes available fresh daily on Saturdays and Sundays when the store is open (although their second store at The Galeries between Pitt and George streets in the city is open seven days), there is also a range of ceramics, tea pots, strainers and tea accessories for the perfect gift.

“Our mission is to reduce our footprint, support local and celebrate all the amazing unique native ingredients that Australia has to offer in our blends,” Amber said.
“We also offer a tea alchemy and brewing workshop on the last Sunday of the month, 4-6pm, where you can learn from us how to create a blend you love and take it home in your apothecary jar and customers are urged to recycle when they come in for a top-op.”
With the next workshop on August 25 ($55), you can make a booking by visiting ttotalertea.com
