Police are searching for another two other men after they were called to a sports field in Rockdale when an alleged brawl broke out between spectators at a soccer match.
As police and the Public Order and Riot Squad (PORS) arrived, the crowd dispersed but they were told the men were allegedly armed with metal star pickets, bricks, flares and plastic crates. Three men were taken to hospital suffering minor injuries.
Strike Force Azure was formed to investigate the incident, with the 23-year-old Granville man charged with being armed with intent to commit indictable offence, and riot.
He was given conditional bail which includes not attending any Premier League games.

Crashes into car after drinking
A MAN was charged with mid-range drink driving and his licence suspended following a crash at Holroyd last Wednesday night.
The 21-year-old man was allegedly driving along Brickworks Drive when his car crashed into a parked white Toyota Hilux, and damaged two other cars. He allegedly returned a reading of 0.088.
Two passengers were injured and taken to hospital, while one escaped injury.
Arrest trio for kidnap, ransom
THREE men were arrested at South Granville, Guildford and Wentworth Point and charged with the kidnapping of man from Ryde last year.
About 12.40pm on Saturday, October 24, police were called to a unit block on Morrison Road at Ryde, where a man had allegedly been violently abducted from the underground carpark.
Three days later, as police investigated, they found the injured 20-year-old near the intersection of Henry Lawson Drive and Maclaurin Avenue, East Hills.
He was taken hospital for treatment to minor injuries.
A 33-year-old man arrested at a home at South Granville was charged with take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, a 40-year-old man arrested at Guildford was charged with take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, and a 32-year-old man arrested at Homebush was charged with take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
