Bowls way to help support country sister’s community

FIVE members of Picnic Point Bowling Club have enjoyed three days of social bowls after donating a cheque to Grenfell’s CWA Evening Branch.

Money is collected from bowlers for ‘wrong bias’ bowls, swearing (mostly at yourself on the greens) and general loose change, with this year’s totalling $500, an amount that was matched through an anonymous Picnic Point donation.
CWA members Lain Thiel and Deidre Carroll met with the visiting bowlers (pictured) and presented them with a Certificate of Appreciation, with CWA president Judy Johnston saying they were very appreciative.
“This allows us to help more people struggling in our community,” she said.
The fourth donation from Picnic Point, the bowlers adopted CWA as a beneficiary after the devastating drought plaguing Grenfell a few years ago.
“Due to the pandemic our donation is down on previous years but we do all we can to help,” Bowls Secretary Arthur Gates said.
“We would like to see all clubs adopt a sister club from the country.”
