One of the organisers, Brian (Dubba) Gray said that they had never missed a year and looked forward to putting smiles on the faces of all of the young patients at Westmead Children’s Hospital again this year.
“There is nothing like knowing how happy you are making the sick kids and helping them on the road to recovery at a time when they should be enjoying Christmas and the holidays at home with their families,” he said.
As well as collecting toys for Christmas, the bowlers have been raising funds throughout the year which they will use to buy equipment for the children’s oncology ward which treats and supports children with different forms of cancer.
“The nurses are presently working out their equipment needs for this year and we expect to hear back from them soon,” Brian said.
“Residents are invited to drop off a cash donation for the ward or leave a Christmas gift for a child or teenager.”
To donate a new and unwrapped toy to this worthy cause, drop them into the club, 41 Northam Avenue (in Griffith Park).
