The Daniel Solway-led side was intended to finish off Sydney and then chase down a modest total for victory in their Sydney Premier Grade Cricket clash at Drummoyne Oval.
Unfortunately, only the first part of the plan came to fruition. Resuming at 6 for 184, Sydney only managed a further 58 runs before being bowled out – mostly due to the speed of tearaway young quick Simpson.
He continued his recent great form with a stunning five-wicket haul for just 51 runs and set the scene for the Bulldogs’ batsmen who needed 243 for victory.
Alas, most of the batsmen struggled to score except Niran Wijewardene (43) and George Bell (35).
The Dogs were all out for just 137 runs.
Bowlers at barking best but batters missed mark
YOUNG pacemen Brad Simpson (pictured) captured his first five-wicket haul against Sydney but the Bulldogs suffered a comprehensive defeat with the inexperienced batting line-up failing to fire yet again.
