Boost your luck at centre celebration

A TIME to bring the family together for feasting while honouring ancestors and taking part in good luck rituals, Chinese New Year celebrations will be in full swing this Saturday, January 25, from noon at the Campsie Centre, 14-28 Amy Street.

Celebrating the Year of the Rat, which symbolises abundance, prosperity and fertility, festivities will get underway with Lions delivering shop blessings, red envelopes and fortune cookies ahead of their spectacular show complete with drummers, the Man of Wealth and roaming minstrels.
With Canterbury Bankstown home to many families of Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese backgrounds, hundreds are expected to take the opportunity to breathe some fire into the Lunar New Year.
Campsie Centre Manager Graeme Bailey says the celebrations will be awash with colour and the sights, sounds and taste of Asia.
“It’s going to be such a joyous celebration and we hope everyone comes down to join in all the fun and make the most of welcoming the Lunar New Year,” he said.
