Boost luck with host of fun activities at Dooleys

ARE you starting to feel lucky?

With the Lunar New Year set to get underway soon in a year where anything can happen, you are invited to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit in style with traditional cuisine, live entertainment and activities for all ages over an action-packed weekend at Dooleys Lidcombe Catholic Club.
First up this Saturday, January 21, you can enjoy the beautiful sounds of the Chinese Horizontal Harp played by Maggie Chung from 6-9pm.
Coming from a family of musicians, Maggie is the granddaughter of Cao Zheng, one of the contemporary masters of Gu Zheng in China.
Born in Australia, she speaks fluent Mandarin and English and has studied at the Chinese Conservatory of Music.
You can also enjoy special performances by director and choreographer Lily Chen and her talented performance group in the Members Lounge from 7.45pm.
The skill and elegance of the performers are appropriately accompanied by their colourful, classic costumes and props such as fans, flowers, and umbrellas.
Then the ever-popular Mandarin Band returns for a special Lunar New Year performance until 12am.
Sit back and enjoy covers from a variety of Asian mainstream pop from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Vietnam as well as popular western tunes.
Head back to Dooleys on Sunday, January 22, 6-9pm, and collect a special personalised bookmark with your name handwritten by a Chinese Calligrapher or receive your lucky red envelop from the God of Wealth.
Don’t forget to visit the stunning Goddess of Fortune featured in her fabulous, elaborate and traditional costume, for an extra boost of luck.
The incredible traditional lion dancers are also back from 7pm for a special showcase performed by the Tung Han Qun martial arts and lion dance academy, with festivities culminating when the Mandarin Duo takes to the stage until 9pm.
