With over 2.2 billion plants produced and sold across the country since 2019, TAFE NSW Nursery, Parks and Gardens, and Horticulture students are setting down roots in a thriving industry, by exercising their hands-on horticulture and retail knowledge at this year’s initial plant sale.
Tony Momi, Head Teacher of Horticulture at Padstow TAFE, said the plants to be sold have been grown by students over the past 6-18 months as part of their course and all proceeds raised will go towards purchasing more resources for them.
The plants will be for sale today and tomorrow at Padstow (May 24-25, 9am-1pm) and include Australian natives, exotics, succulent bowls, espaliers and a variety of indoor plants at cost-effective prices. TAFE NSW teachers will also be on hand to provide expert advice to customers.
The Australian nursery industry is valued at approximately $2.6 billion and employs almost 25,000 people across 1,651 production businesses across Australia.
