Bike crashes after failing to stop

A critical incident investigation is underway after a motorcyclist crashed in Beverly Hills.

Police were on the M5 Motorway at Beverly Hills about 12.40pm today (Monday, June 7), when they noticed a motorcycle being ridden erratically. Police activated their warning devices intending on stopping the rider who was some distance in front of them.
When the motorcyclist failed to stop, officers deactivated the police vehicle’s warning devices for safety reasons.
A short time later, the motorcyclist hit three vehicles at the intersection of the King Georges Road off-ramp. The rider was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital in a critical condition.
The occupants of the three vehicles were not injured.
Two left-hand turning lanes from the M5 Motorway onto King Georges Road northbound are currently closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) is attending the scene.
A critical incident team from Campsie Police Area Command will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.
That investigation will be subject to independent review.
