The festival involves all youth, male and female squads from Olympic and Apia competing against each other on Saturday, and culminating in the Festival of Football at Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday. With teams awarded points for wins and draws, the club with the most points will be crowned at the conclusion of the Mens 1st Grade Match on Sunday night.
The festival will also feature international food stalls, live music, entertainment, kids zones and, of course, the always popular Legends Match.
Sydney Olympic CEO John Boulous said last year’s event was a great day and this year will be no different at Belmore Sports Ground.
“It’s a great opportunity to get the community together and celebrate the history of two great clubs,” he said.
“There will be something for everyone, on the field we will see up and coming stars of our game in action, an Olympic and APIA legends match that will feature former Socceroo, NSL and Club greats, a women’s match showcasing close to 20 Matilda, Young Matilda and W-League Stars and a Mens match between two of the strongest teams in the League, that always put on a good show.
“We are looking for a big crowd to support what will really be a day to remember.”
The gates open at 10.30am with games at 11am, Under 20s; 1pm, Legends match; 2.45pm, Women’s NPL 1st Grade; and 5.15pm, Men’s NPL 1st Grade.
Tickets cost $10 and available at events.humanitix.com.
