Best Christmas lights to win

IT’S time to deck the halls and help your street sparkle because City of Canterbury Bankstown’s annual Christmas Lights Competition is back.

The council is on the hunt for the most festive house in each of the five wards, with prizes of up to $500 for the most outstanding Christmas displays.
Mayor Bilal El-Hayek encouraged everyone to decorate their homes and show the rest of Sydney that the holiday spirit was very much alive in our City.
“It’s not just about which displays are the biggest and brightest, but the most creative and engaging,” Mayor El-Hayek said.
Residents are encouraged to round up their family and friends and see the spectacular set-ups for themselves with the council’s online Christmas Lights Map.
Mayor El-Hayek said the map took the hassle out of searching for places to see the City’s best Christmas lights.
“It’s a great opportunity to get the family together for a festive night of fun,” he said.
Think you have the best lights on the block? Submit a picture of your Christmas lights display by noon on Tuesday, December 12.
All entries will be showcased on the council’s Facebook Page, @OurCBCity, where residents can vote for their favourite festive display from Thursday to Tuesday, December 14-19.
The winner of each ward will be announced on Thursday, December 21, and take home a $500 gift card for first place or a $200 gift card for runner up.
