Held at Canterbury Boys High School, the event was to showcase excellence and celebrate public education in the wider Canterbury area.
Competition Patron and Canterbury MP Sophie Cotsis and Principal Ross Dummett welcomed and addressed the students who competed in academic challenges including Spelling Bee, Maths Jeopardy, STEM Challenge and HSIE Wheel of Fortune.
At the end of the day all students were given an education kit, including items they will need in high school, such as a calculator, USB, geometry set and uniform vouchers.
This was made possible by generous sponsors and partnerships with UNSW, Officeworks, LOWES, CHPRSL, Canterbury Bulldogs, Sydney FC, Dymocks George St and Woolworths Canterbury. A delicious lunch was also provided by Nieo’s Grille in Earlwood.
The winning schools were: Spelling Bee – Croydon Park PS; Maths Jeopardy – Earlwood PS; STEM Challenge – Campsie PS; and HSIE Wheel of Fortune – Summer Hill PS which was also named the overall competition winner.
Canterbury South PS Principal Daniela Frasca said: “Our students had an amazing time and spoke positively of the experience. Look forward to next year.”
