Learning to code teaches children skills that stretch far beyond the computer – from problem solving to critical thinking, the benefits are immense.
Now thanks to a weekly Saturday program on offer at the Granville Centre (inside the library building), you don’t have to wait until your child reaches the senior high school years to encourage them to learn coding.
Enrolling students from six years and over, Code4Fun will open up your child’s world, according to Director Gregory Punanov.
“We teach them the basics of computer science and they learn how to code their own games including how to create animation, digital art, movies, Apps and more,” he said.
“It gives children a big edge in the classroom.”
Saying coding helps with communication, creativity, maths, writing and confidence, Gregory says coders are the architects and builders of the digital age.
“Some of our students are even planning to do software design and development for their HSC now and these skills will definitely help in any future career,” he said.
“Learning to code is exciting and challenging; it’s very rewarding creating something that works as you would expect to, there’s no better feeling.”
