Bec’s now living dream

REBECCA Miller, a former Inner West Magpies AFL Women’s player, made her debut in the AFLW for Richmond last Friday night.

Bec summed up the experience in three words: “Dream come true”.
“Running out to over 15,000 people in the crowd with many loved ones included is something I’m so grateful for and while I was the one wearing the yellow and black so many people in Sydney and Melbourne have helped me get to that point,” she said
It wasn’t until she moved from Wagga to Sydney that she picked up a Sherrin for the first time.
Originally playing soccer, water polo and cricket, Bec only began playing AFL in 2018.
In that year she played for the Inner West Magpies Women’s side formerly known as the Western Wolves.
Speaking about the Inner West Magpies, Bec said: “Inner West Magpies taught me the foundations of the game and the friendships I’ve made at Picken Oval will last a lifetime!”
Bec was then training for the upcoming season when she got offered an opportunity to play in the VFLW for Richmond and relocated to Melbourne.
In that competition, she played 14 games and featured six times in the best and three times in the VFLW’s ‘Team of the Week’.
Richmond have a further seven games to go prior to the finals series for AFLW, coincidentally Richmond will play GWS in Bec’s home town of Wagga on March 7 for round 5 of their fixture.
