The award recognises the way Cheryne has inspired so many with her strategic leadership in the development of sustainable programs that directly impact on social issues like poverty, malnutrition, access to healthcare and homelessness due to domestic violence.
The former Malek Fahd Islamic School Greenacre student has quickly risen through the ranks at AusRelief over a five-year period, starting as a legal advisor and now as the COO, strongly asserting herself as a role model to her team, volunteers and the community.
She has travelled with AusRelief to impoverished villages and refugee camps around the world – allowing her to refine her outlook and approach to humanitarian aid.
“It’s incredibly exciting work and am happy to be making a difference,” she said.
AusRelief’s Cheryne wins ‘Emerging Leader Award’
SHE manages the AusRelief Australian and Cambodian offices and teams, and coordinates programs in over 10 different countries all from her little office in Yagoona and now Chief Operating Officer (COO) Cheryne El Hawat has been presented with the ‘Emerging Leader Award’ at the prestigious Sydney Awards.
