Detectives charged the 48-year-old who allegedly attempted to break into an ATM on Tower Street, Panania, last June and three months later, forced entry to a premise on Anderson Avenue, Panania, in an attempt to access another ATM.
Police conducting proactive patrols of the area noticed a man fleeing from the Anderson Avenue business but after a short foot pursuit and an extensive search of the area, he could not be located.
The man was arrested last Wednesday and charged with two counts of break and enter intend to commit serious indictable offence.
Faces 2007 sex assault charge
A MAN has been charged over the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl at Regents Park almost 14 years ago, uncovered by detectives investigating the 1999 alleged murder of Michelle Bright.
A 53-year-old charged with Bright’s alleged murder last year, has also been charged with assault with act of indecency, attempt choke/strangle with intent to commit indictable offence and aggravated sex assault (inflict actual bodily harm on victim).
Police allege the 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by the man known to her at Regents Park in 2007.
Drugs concealed in wine bottles
A 63-year-old Bankstown man has been charged with possessing a commercial quantity of unlawful import (border controlled drug), after the alleged importation of $675,000 worth of liquid MDMA concealed in wine bottles.
Acting on intelligence information, Australian Border Force officers examined a consignment which arrived in Sydney from the United Kingdom on Christmas Day.
The consignment was allegedly found to contain 4.5kg of MDMA, which has an estimated potential street value of $675,000.
Following extensive inquiries, police arrested the man during a vehicle stop on Lang Road, Moore Park, just before 11.30am on Thursday.
A short time later, officers executed two search warrants at a restaurant at Woollahra and a home at Bankstown, where they allegedly seized more than $25,800 cash and electronic devices, which will undergo further examination.
Coach on sex touching charges
POLICE searched a Beverly Hills home and seized documentation after a 70-year-old former netball coach was charged over the alleged sexual touching of three teenage girls.
Last October, the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad established Strike Force Biscoe to investigate reports three teenage girls had been sexually touched by a man who was known to them.
The man was charged with eight counts of intentionally sexually touch child (between 10 and 16 years) and attempt intentionally sexually touch child (between 10 and 16 years).
Police will allege that the man sexually touched three teenage girls – then aged between 12 and 15 – at netball courts in Sydney’s south between March 2019 and September 2020.
He was granted strict conditional bail to reappear in court later this month.
