Cr Raffan was elected Deputy of Canterbury Bankstown at an extraordinary council meeting last Thursday, with Cr Charbel Abouraad the only other candidate for the job.
Congratulated by her fellow councillors, Cr Raffan said she’s “looking forward to serving our great city”.
Mayor Asfour said she would do an outstanding job.
“She is a wonderful role model to the women in our City, also highlighted by her receiving this year’s Ministers Women in Local Government Award,” he said.
“Cr Raffan has much to contribute, and I look forward to working with her to serve the community.”
