It’s curated by artist Amy Claire Mills who, along with Josie Young, has created an interactive quilt with a sewn-in QR code to access a fun Instagram filter as part of the featured artworks.
Other works range from video and painting to textiles, creating both a colourful and tactile experience that gives voice to those who historically have been marginalised.
Artists also include Bruno Booth, Chronically Fully Sick, M Sunflower, Bailee Lobb, Prue Stevenson, Eugenie Lee, Ohni Blu and Digby Webster.
On a mission to improve representation of artists with disability, Amy says the exhibition includes many beautiful and thought-provoking works.
“Not many interactive installations are accessible but Bailee’s ‘Big Blue’ is a large sculpture and wheelchair users can go inside,” she said.
Wheelchair user Bruno has created a work depicting him transversing various landscapes, while Prue has created a lush, sensory installation piece.
M Sunflower has produced water colour paintings with the theme of ‘Rhizome: Migal’, with ‘migal’ meaning ‘tears’ in Darug.
“Tears for my ancestors, tears for our sorrow … Tears of joy and tears of healing,” she said.
Catch ‘Out of Order’ from Tuesday to Friday, 10am-4pm, and Saturday, 11am-4pm, until December 11.
