As one of the oldest art societies in Sydney – founded in 1958 – it does a fantastic job of engaging people at all artistic levels and from all walks of life with creative projects supported by professional lessons.
During the nine-week terms, the society has on offer five classes for children and six classes for adults every week.
With classes held during the day, after school and on weekends, you can have a go at drawing, watercolour painting, acrylics, charcoal and all other mediums to get your artistic juices flowing.
Bankstown Art Society vice-president and secretary Diane Yousouf says the teachers are experienced and talented artists in their own right.
“It’s great to open again and be back in business.,” she said.
“All of our classes will be held within the rooms of Bankstown Arts Centre at 5 Olympic Parade.”
The nine-week term costs $130-$150 for adults and $100 a term for children aged six to 15 years.
There are exhibitions, demonstrations and tutored workshops as well as outdoor painting and sketching field trips.
