Arrest staffer over fraud in theft of mobiles worth $3m

A MAN from Guildford has been charged after a telco was allegedly defrauded $3 million.

Strike Force Jarley was established in October 2023 by State Crime Command’s Cybercrime Squad, to investigate reports a telephone company was allegedly defrauded by one of its employees.
The 34-year-old man was arrested as police raided a home in Guildford last month(pictured). They allegedly located and seized electronics, cryptocurrency and a vehicle.
The man was charged with fraud, dealing with the proceeds of crime and unauthorised modification of data.
Police alleged the man was employed in a position of responsibility within the company, through which he unlawfully obtained over 1,500 high-end mobile phones and accessories and sold them for cash on various marketplace websites.
