Arrest over intent to murder

A MAN has been charged with intent to murder after an alleged stabbing in Merrylands last Friday afternoon.

Police said a 43-year-old man was standing in Railway Terrace, Merrylands, about 3.50pm, when he was approached by another man and stabbed several times.
The man then ran away, while the injured man was assisted at a nearby medical centre, before being taken to hospital in a serious condition.
A 26-year-old man was arrested at a house in Carhullen Street, Merrylands, later that evening and charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder, and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic).

Teens on carjack charge
A WOMAN and child were allegedly threatened with a machete and their car stolen in Guildford West on Saturday afternoon.
It was one of three alleged carjackings involving three teenagers.
The first alleged carjacking occurred at at Abbotsford, about 12.45pm, when a woman was allegedly forced out of her Toyota Corolla by two males, one of whom was armed with a machete.
Police began a pursuit of the vehicle but it was terminated for safety reasons.
About 15 minutes later, Cumberland Police were called to Palmer Street at Guildford West after reports a woman and child had their black BMW SUV stolen and were allegedly threatened with a machete.
With assistance from PolAir, the SUV was followed for three hours, before hitting another vehicle at the intersection of the Cumberland Highway and M4 at South Wentworthville.
The SUV was stopped, and three male teenagers were arrested.
During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly seized a hunting knife and machete, which will undergo forensic examination.
No persons were injured during the incidents.
A 16-year-old male was charged with two counts of assault with intent to rob in company, two counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner and predatory driving, a second 16-year-old male was charged with two counts of robbery in company and two counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and a 17-year-old male was charged with assault with intent to rob armed with offensive weapon, two counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and robbery armed with offensive weapon.
