Police were called to a hotel on Josephine Street, Riverwood, about 11.45pm following reports a man was involved in a confrontation with bar staff, where he allegedly poured a beer over a woman and smashed a glass over a man’s head, before fleeing.
Just before 5pm the following day, police were called back to the premises after reports the man had returned.
Upon arrival, the man sighted police and a foot pursuit commenced through the hotel and into the carpark, where a male probationary constable stopped him.
While the man was resisting arrest, police will allege he removed the OC Spray from the officer’s vest and deployed it towards him. A member of the public assisted in detaining the 24-year-old man before he was arrested.
He was charged with common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, resist arrest, assault police, posses/use prohibited weapon, use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, two counts of breach ADVO and breach of bail.
Probe over pole collision
TWO men are in a critical condition after a serious crash at Milperra last Saturday morning.
About 10.15am, a Mazda sedan was travelling east on Beaconsfield Street, near the intersection of Horsley Road, when it collided with a pole.
Both male occupants suffered multiple serious injuries and were taken to hospital in critical conditions.
Hit pedestrian, 81, dies
AN 81-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car at Panania last month.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Peffer Street and Anderson Avenue on Thursday, August 22, after reports a woman had been hit by a car.
She suffered serious leg and abdominal injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, where she died about 3.30pm last Saturday.
The driver of the vehicle, a 44-year-old woman, was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Police are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
Drink drive twice in hour
A MAN was allegedly caught drink-driving twice within an hour last Friday afternoon.
About 12.55am, Police stopped a brown Ford Falcon sedan on Hector Street, for the purposes of a random breath test. The 26-year-old man allegedly returned a positive result before being taken back to Bankstown Police Station where another analysis returned a reading of 0.120.
He was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for driving with middle range PCA and his licence suspended.
Almost one hour later, police allegedly saw the vehicle traveling west along the Hume Highway, Bass Hill, with continuous amounts of sparks coming from the front offside wheel and swerving all over the road.
Police said they stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Woodville Road, Villawood, and submitted the driver to a roadside breath test returning a positive result.
A subsequent breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.098.
The 26-year-old man was charged with drive in a manner dangerous drive with middle range PCA and drive motor vehicle while licence suspended.
Attacked woman arrest
A MAN has been charged with reckless wounding after he allegedly assaulted a woman in Chester Hill last month.
Just before 6pm on Monday, July 22, a 38-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man were walking on St Paul’s Place, Chester Hill, when they were confronted by four people in a vehicle, three women and a man.
The 38-year-old woman ran toward Gurney Road, Chester Hill and was chased by one of the women who was armed with a baseball bat and the man. She was allegedly struck several times with the bat and kicked by the three women and man.
She was also allegedly stabbed and suffered a 3-4cm wound to the right ribcage, a lacerated liver and right rib fractures.
