While both men turned up with gunshot wounds at Bankstown Hospital, police are treating them as separate incidents.
The first man arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen last Tuesday about 10.35pm and was transferred to another hospital for surgery.
Police later charged the 30-year-old Condell Park man, who drove him to hospital, with conceal serious indictable offence, hinder police and disqualified driving.
Detective Acting Superintendent Darren Sly said they suspected it had occurred within the Bankstown area between 10pm and 10.30pm.
“We want to know who was involved and who was the shooter. At this stage, the men aren’t assisting us, which is very frustrating,” Supt Sly said.
“At this stage, police don’t know why the shooting occurred, and we don’t know where it occurred.
“So there’s no choice, police don’t like to do it, but if he can’t assist us with a serious offence – a public shooting, which we shouldn’t have to put up with – we’ll take action.”
Just after midnight on Friday, a 37-year-old man arrived at the hospital in a serious condition, suffering a gunshot wound.
