Arrest five over organised crime

DETECTIVES charged five men, raided 13 properties, including at Canterbury, Kingsgrove, Bankstown and Potts Hill, allegedly seized $15 million worth of drugs and have frozen $8 million worth of assets in a two-day blitz targeting transnational organised crime syndicates.

It followed a raid at a Erskineville unit last Wednesday where police allegedly found numerous items consistent with the manufacture of prohibited drugs, almost 25kg of ketamine, 10kg of imported amphetamine, 9kg of cocaine, 4.5kg of MDMA, 2kg of cannabis, approximately $580,000 in cash and mobile phones relevant to their investigation.
Detectives then executed search warrants at addresses in Canterbury and Kingsgrove, allegedly located and seized a firearm, ammunition, gold bullion, cryptocurrency wallets and $220,000 in cash, and arrested three men aged 27, 28 and 29.
The 27-year-old was charged with possessing an unauthorised pistol, five counts of knowingly deal with proceeds of crime and six counts of supply prohibited drugs, the 28-year-old with six drug supply offences and the 29-year-old with deal with property proceeds of crime less than $100,000.
Detective Superintendent Grant Taylor, Acting Director at State Crime Command, said police were making impressive inroads in the fight against transnational organised crime networks.
