Arrest five over brawl

A MAN from Yagoona man was charged with affray, two counts of resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, and assault police officer in execution of duty after a brawl in the Sydney CBD on Saturday night.

Five people were charged after several police officers were allegedly assaulted.
About 11.50pm, police who responded to reports of a fight at a premises on Pitt Street, were told a man had allegedly punched and kicked another man repeatedly, before he was escorted from the location by security guards.
While officers were attempting to arrest the man, a number of other individuals became involved. The man from Yagoona, 25, then allegedly shoved a constable in the chest.
OC Spray was used to subdue him and other members of the group, known to him, including a woman who allegedly punched another officer in the face. Another man allegedly pushed a sergeant in the chest.
A 22-year-old woman from Seaforth was charged with common assault, excluded person re-enter/attempt to re-enter premises, and assault police officer in execution of duty; a 25-year-old man, from Wentworth Point, was charged with resist officer in execution of duty, and assault police officer in execution of duty; a 25-year-old man from Oakhurst was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty, and resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty; and a 26-year-old man from Kingsgrove was charged with two counts of resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty.
The officers were treated for minor injuries.

Woman rams, tries to bite officers
A WOMAN allegedly led police on a pursuit and attempted to bite officers during her arrest.
Last Tuesday about 11.15am, the 29-year-old woman was driving a Hyundai SUV on Myrtle Road, Bankstown, when police allegedly attempted to pull her over, however, she failed to stop.
She allegedly continued driving through the streets of Bankstown to evade police before she crashed her car into a guard rail at the railway underpass where Brunker Road meets Ferrier Road in Birrong.
Police placed their vehicle in front of the Hyundai to prevent her from driving away however, the woman allegedly rammed her car into the police vehicle.
She was arrested as she climbed out the window of her car.
Police will allege the woman attempted to bite officers as they placed her under arrest.
She is facing 16 charges including police pursuit, drive while disqualified, use offensive weapon to prevent detention, escape custody, drug offences, fraud, possess identity information and steal from dwelling.

‘Smash, grab’ rise sparks warning
CAMPSIE police are concerned with the number of incidents of cars being broken into and property stolen.
After a high number of ‘smash and grab’ incidents, mostly during the night time in the Punchbowl, Wiley Park, Belmore, Lakemba, Riverwood and Narwee areas, police are warning residents to make sure they do not leave valuables and other property in their vehicles.
