The 78-year-old man was extradited from Queensland, after police began an investigation in August last year, into alleged historical sexual abuse offences.
Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested the man in Manunda last Wednesday, before he was escorted by investigators on a flight to Sydney the following day.
The man was charged with six counts of indecent assault on a male.
Police will allege in court that the man, who was employed as a teacher, sexually abused a 13-year-old boy on several occasions at a school in Auburn between 1980 and 1981.
As investigations are continuing, anyone with information that can assist detectives is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
