Appeal over assault, carjacking

A MAN was assaulted and carjacked in a horrifying attack in Petersham early Monday morning.

Police are now appealing for public assistance to find his attackers.
About 1.40am, a 37-year-old man was sitting in a red Ford Focus parked on Park Street, near Parramatta Road, Petersham, when he was approached by an unknown man and threatened with a knife.
Police have been told the driver exited the vehicle when the unknown man pushed him, causing him to fall to the ground, before a second unknown man approached and further assaulted him.
The first man fled the scene in the Ford Focus, before the second man fled in a gold Toyota Camry, with NSW registration APS12W.
A third car, described as a silver Mazda CX9, registration YBZ75U, was also seen leaving the location, with all three last seen turning from Park Street into Station Street.
Paramedics treated the man for his injuries, including a dislodged tooth, grazing to his hands and left leg and wrist pain.
About 7.20am, a laptop bag left in the stolen Ford Focus was located in a car park in St Clair. Other personal items in the Ford were not located.
The Toyota and Mazda CX9 were stolen from two separate addresses in Girraween and Carlingford.
The men are described as being of Pacific Islander/ Maori appearance, one of slim build, about 173cm tall, with dark hair and the other medium build, about 178cm tall and was wearing a yellow t-shirt and beige coloured pants.
