It is believed the incidents are linked.
Police, who were called to Chiswick Road, Auburn, about 8.50am on Tuesday, May 30, following reports shots had been fired, found a damaged utility.
About 9am, firefighters were called to Onslow Street, Granville, where they found a car, believed to have been used the shooting, on fire.
No-one was injured at either incident.
Auburn Police with assistance from Cumberland Police and the State Crime Command Raptor Squad, have launched an investigation and have urged anyone with dashcam footage or information about these incidents to contact Auburn police or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
