Appeal as ‘ram-raid’ van found

TWO vans used in a failed ram-raid at a shopping centre at Greystanes early last Friday morning, have been found in Merrylands.

Following an appeal to the public for information, a white Toyota Town Ace van was found about 5.45pm on Daryl Street, Merrylands West and just over two hours’ later, a white Mitsubishi Express van was found nearby on Paton Street – both were searched with a number of items seized.
After one van crashed through the doors of the shopping centre about 4.20am, another followed close behind, before ramming the vehicle into an automated teller machine several times.
Four men were seen on CCTV failing in their attempts to lift an ATM in one of the vans, before driving away empty-handed.
Detectives investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, have renewed their appeal to anyone who may be able to identify the persons or vehicles involved to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
