Olga is studying for a PhD in Psychology and as a single mother, she believes financial independence is vital.

“I’m a little worried when I start earning more money I may get excited and start spending on things I don’t need, so I would like to have a plan in place to guide me and this app is perfect.”
The app is available for Western Sydney University students to trial by searching for ‘WalletSmart’ in app stores. For more info, go to unibank.com.au
App to aid student budget
MORE than 500 Western Sydney University (WSU) students, including Canterbury resident Olga Soumpassakis, are part of a pilot program for a new free app designed to help university students upskill in financial literacy.
The UniBank Wallet$mart app – a joint effort from UniBank, Western Sydney University and Tangible – incorporates info and tools to help students understand how to budget and make the best decisions regarding finances.
It comes at a crucial time, with a recent study showing that one in seven students regularly goes without food and three in five reporting their finances are a source of worry.
