Named after charity worker of nearly 70 years, Ralph will be there on the day after being initially approached in late 1974 to run the event and hasn’t skipped a beat since.
“I’ve been doing charity work since the 1950s but to have my name officially associated with a charity event like this is such a great honour,” he said.
Parramatta Lions President Graham Estreich said companies were always looking for ways to support the community and bond with staff and the golf day would be the perfect opportunity.
“This year, we are looking to raise $40,000 for the purchase of a vehicle for a young man, David Nolan, who has Muscular Dystrophy,” he said.
“David is now permanently confined to a wheelchair and needs a customised vehicle to provide him with much needed mobility.”
The cost to play is $85 a player (single players welcome), with the price including 18 holes of golf, special giveaways, a barbecue breakfast/lunch and a Chinese meal after the game but you must register by Thursday, June 20.
There will also be raffle prizes galore including signed jumpers from the Canberra Raiders, Canterbury Bulldogs, Giants AFL and NSW Waratahs as well as a Penrith football signed by all of the last three premiership winning players plus much more.
“There are still a few holes to be sponsored and any company can to get involved for as little as $500, which entitles them to have a hole in their name (for the day), a round of golf for four and all the food they can eat,” Graham said.
